He supported many peace organizations, both inside Denmark and Europe-wide, and helped guide the passage of a bill to reach arbitration agreements with Sweden and Norway. Klas Pontus Arnoldson (1844 – 1916) was a Swedish author, journalist, politician, and committed pacifist. He was a founding member and the first chairman of the Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society.  |

He is noted for his international peace work. Ahtisaari has played a prominent role in resolving many conflicts in Namibia, Aceh, Kosovo and Iraq, among other areas.  |

He was an important leader in the ecumenical movement for the unification of Christian Churches. He won the prize for theories concerning the specificity in development and control of the immune system and the discovery of the principle for production of monoclonal antibodies.  |

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1920 - August KroghSweden November 18, 1980 Schack August Steenberg Krogh (1874 ¡V 1949) was a Danish professor at the department of zoophysiology at the University of Copenhagen from 1916-1945. He contributed a number of fundamental discoveries within several fields of physiology. In 1920 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for the discovery of the mechanism of regulation of the capillaries in skeletal muscle.Krogh was first to describe the adaptation of blood perfusion in muscle and other organs according to demands through opening and closing the arterioles and capillaries.  |

The Nobel Prize in Physics 1915 - William Henry Bragg and William Lawrence BraggSweden December 10, 1975 William Henry Bragg (1862 - 1942) and his son William Lawrence Bragg (1890 - 1971) were awarded the Nobel Prize for their work which created the new science of X-ray crystallography, making it possible to determine molecular structures from the crystal form of a compound. William Lawrence Bragg was 25 years old when he was awarded the Nobel Prize, and to this day remains the youngest ever Laureate.  |

The Nobel Prize in Physics 1914 - Max von LaueSweden December 10, 1974 Max Theodor Felix von Laue (1879 - 1960) was a German physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1914 for his discovery of the diffraction of X-rays by crystals. In addition to his scientific contributions in optics, crystallography, quantum theory, superconductivity, and the theory of relativity, he had a number of administrative positions which advanced and guided German scientific research and development over four decades.  |

1986 Nobel Prize in Literature: Wole Soyinka.  Primarily a playwright, Soyinke has also written poetry, essays, and several autobiographical works, along with two novels, The Interpreters and Season of Anomy, which I can heartily recommend. |

France February 21, 1987 Charles Robert Richet (1850 – 1935) was a French physiologist who initially investigated a variety of subjects such as neurochemistry, digestion, thermoregulation in homeothermic animals, and breathing. He won the Nobel Prize "in recognition of his work on anaphylaxis" in 1913. He also presided the French Eugenic Society from 1920 to 1926. He also devoted many years to the study of spiritualist phenomena.  |
