Innocence: An Ante-Diluvian Triple Underpass

Once upon a kinder, gentler time, this triple underpass was nothing more than a municipal curiosity.

Those were the days. There was a left, right and centre.

Careful examination also shows a smaller Far Left and a smaller Far Right, mostly hidden from view. Those were indeed the Good Old Days!

Consider the modern photograph of that triple underpass. It doesn't look that different today except for the modern signage and the removal of those stone or concrete markers in the median strips:



Of course, you know this is the infamous Dealey Plaza, the place where JFK was assassinated.

Q/ Anybody remember the last time that wt1 got caught with his pants down? Even a little?

The photo is from east-to-west, and the postcard is from west-to-east.

I've never been to Dallas so I couldn't tell for sure what the overpass direction was in comparing the postcard to the photograph.

Nonetheless, referring to the most recently posted Google maps image of the overpass, it looks like something was rubbed out on the left and center overpass. Could it be signage? It appears the far right underpass has the word "COMMERCE" (?) above it, though.

In any event, all of the images suggest that the area sees little traffic, which is doubtful, so I suspect somebody took these pictures very early in the morning or on a holiday, before traffic got into full swing.

I believe that Google Maps has some sort of algorithm to automatically block key words from their database. I'm sure it was blocked accidentally, but the idea would be to block offensive graffiti messages.

Also, I'm positive that they attempt to do their filming at low traffic times of day. I don't think you'll get a clear shot of the 405 in California at ANY time of the day/year/century.

The underpasses are labeled by the names of the streets they lead to: Elm, Main, Commerce.

The postcard's image was also 'cleaned-up' ... those names have been there, like, forever.
