Last month I was able to purchase a copy of The Engraver's Line by Gene Hessler for a good price. Used copies of this are pricey from the research I've done.

The cover states, "An Encyclopedia of Paper Money and Postage Stamp Art".

It's a pretty neat book, I've only skimmed through it briefly last night.

Just sharing a recent purchase.

Congrats on your purchase.

I've been wanting a copy of the book for awhile now
but it's selling online for anywhere between
200 bucks all the way up to CDN$ 1,569.01.

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listi...ondition=all

I think some of these sellers are sick in the head,
or maybe they think the book is printed on gold foil.

May I ask from where you purchased it and how much.

I contacted the author of the book who put me in touch with the dealer to whom he sold the last copies he had. That dealer was based in Georgia. I'll email him to see if he has any left and let you know. I paid less than $150 for my copy.

Litho I don't have enough posts to send emails on here yet. I have enabled members to email me if you'd like to try that. Otherwise, we'll have to wait until I reach that number to send you the info.

One has just popped up on Ebay for a good price:

This really is a must-have reference for anyone interesting in stamp and banknote engraving.

Btw, Gene Hessler is still alive and well, living in the Cincinnati area, though he is no longer actively writing or researching. He just turned 90 this year.
