this is hte check I know nothing about got it in the grab box dont know if its even worth anything or even keeping if anyone could tell me anything about it maybe if need be I can do a scan of the back too

Truth be told, I don't really see anything special about this one. No vignette (picture) and unless it's signed by someone famous it's quite common. Sorry.

The check is interesting if for no other reason than the amount of $3297.00. In 1869 that was a most considerable sum. In fact, one inflation calculator suggests it is the equivalent of $57,842.11 in today's dollars.

According to this article, the First National Bank of Tarrytown lasted only a relatively short time, having gone into receivership in 1878:

There is at least 1 national bank note reported on this bank according to my Kelly National Bank Note census CD.

I thought I'd chime in with my knowledge of national bank note currency.
