Thanks but I'm still just a little old stamp collector with lots to learn and collect. I've only been focused on one thing, and one thing only, so maybe that is part of it.

Today, I have about 1,650 stamps (all NFLD) and about 468 covers.

Twenty years ago, I had about 10 covers, so that has been my focus.... some of them are here... http://newfoundlandcovers.org

Beautiful collection Tommy! Very curious about your discernment of shades, particularly the POW #41-5, the QV Widow Weeds #49/52, and QV cameo #60a-d. Do you have a strategy? They are very tricky (and the 1890 issue is further confused by the SG catalog...)

Thanks. I'm blessed and lucky.

Good questions:

Note that my Lighthouse album is denoted by Unitrade/Scott, but I now much prefer NSSC numbering (though I track both).

41-5 & 29/52 :The shades are tricky, and no easy answer. I use combination of the following but more art than science: (a) Having many of them helps, so you can group to relative differences (b) Buying from reputable dealers is some reliance (c) Old school is go to convention or stamp show and share and ask others (d) I have examples on covers (and can triangulate those by use date) , (d) NSSC catalogue has good comparisons too. At the end of the day, its very hard to be certain because color in scans and each eye is slightly different. I do not use color guides from Gibbons anymore because fading/oxidation but not bad to use as well. The only one of value difference is the deep brown, so may not matter much.

#60 : complete crapshoot except for red tinged variety
