On April 6, 1977 New Zealand issued a set of five, 8c "Education"stamps printed horizontally se-tenant throughout a traditional sheet. This stamp (SG #1139) from the set depicts geography, science and woodwork, and features two students studying a globe.

The stamp depicts the painting 'Archimedes', from the italian painter Domenico Fetti (1589 - 1623). Archimedes is retrated with his right hand over a terrestrial globe.

The stamp commemorates Peter Anich (1723-1766), an Austrian cartographer known for his work Atlas Tyrolensis. The stamp shows his portrait with a globe painted by Philipp Haller in 1759.

Student with globe and map of the French colonies, issued for use in French Oceanic Region (Établissements Français de l'Océanie) on June 22, 1942 to publicize the "Quinzaine Impériale", two weeks (15-31/May/1942) of propaganda campaign aimed to glorified France and its colonies. Same design stamps were issued for use in 24 French colonies and territories:
