Rpp With Reddish Moldy Spots

I offer for your collective consideration this RPP with Reddish Moldy Spots.

I key 'moldy', as I do not know the composition ...

Q/ Is there a particular reddish mold that favors photographs?

Q/ Is this not mold, but a byproduct of some chemical process?

Found on both the front (photo-reactive emulsion side) and the back, though not thru-and-thru.

Authoritative & ridiculous opinions are equally welcome, but please tag the latter with a smiley so's I know the difference.

Michael, I have a similar mould (as we call it over here) growing on the surface of some photographic slides. It can grow on either side but doesn't appear to permeate through the slide. Research will have to determine the species, as my specialist stamp catalogues (as we call them over here) don't go to that level of detail. I suspect it's something that likes cellulose.

They are pretty patterns though. What do they look like under x15 magnification?

The color and splotchiness sure does make those spots look like a mold I've seen before. Bear in mind, I'm not authoritative...but I can be ridiculous (usually unintentionally).

Looks like mold...just my opinion.
