Please post images of your stamps depicting cogwheels in this thread. Here are five examples from my collection to get things in gear. - nethryk Mechanical postal equipment and a twine-tying machine, engraved, and issued by Republic of China (Taiwan) on March 20, 1962, Scott No. 1336.  Industrial workman holding a large cogwheel, a postal tax stamp printed by lithography, and issued by Bolivia in 1939 to benefit the Workers' Home Building Fund, Scott No. RA1.  "Symbols of industry," an airmail stamp designed by French artist and engraver Jacques Combet (1920-1993), printed by photogravure (Delrieu), and issued by Dahomey (now Benin) on July 21, 1966 to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the EuropAfrique economic initiative, Scott No. C38.  "Industry Day," printed by photogravure, and issued by Egypt on July 12, 1980, Scott No. 1137.  Cogwheels, transformer, lab equipment and a student, designed by Slovakian artist Ivan Schurmann (1935- ), combined engraved by Jindra Schmidt (1897-1984) and photogravure, and issued by Czechoslovakia on April 2, 1979 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (initially called Slovak College of Technology), Scott No. 2234.

FRG (Germany) EUROPA - Cogwheels May 2, 1967 The EUROPA 1967 stamps adopted an omnibus design of three cogwheels by Oscar Bonnevalle (Belgium). The central cogwheel bears the CEPT logo and 22 teeth, one tooth for each 1967 members of CEPT.  |

The Exposition Mondiale de la Machine Outil ("Machine Tool World Exposition") is a bi-annual European trade show for the metal working industry. Here is an image of a stamp depicting machines, a globe and the "EMO" cogwheel emblem, designed and engraved by Albert Decaris (1901-1988), and issued by France on May 3, 1975 to publicize this event, Scott No. 1433, Y&T No. 1842. - nethryk  |

Brazil The 40th Anniversary of the Vale do Rio Doce Company June 1, 1982 The Vale do Rio Doce Company was formed in 1942, with the assets of the Itabira Iron Ore Company, including the "iron mountain" of Caué Peak in the Itabira region of Minais Gerais state. It is one of the world's most important producers of iron ore, iron pellets, and other minerals. The stamp design shows stylized sun, iron ore, and cogwheels.  |
