I did a new scan of the VW and Mystery Perfin

Much better. I can read the dates and Leipzig now.

Thanks, but not really. The problem is that I can't find it in the catalog.

Found it. I was reading it as TFW, but it was FTW.

And believe it or not, the key to me finding it was recognizing the cancel as being from Erfurt.

Thank you.

The essays I write about these companies will not, strictly speaking, be Philatelic but I have had fun with them.

Yes, the German catalog sometimes is quite strange. I talked about the editors about it, but they don't want to change the old letter-sequence-madness. One of the strangest examples is a famous film and television production company - UFA.

As the perfin of this company is a monogram, and alphabetical order comes into effect, it is not listed under "U", like everyone would suggest, but under "AFU".
