Rod,

If you haven't already, do a malware scan on your current computer. That's the #1 cause of missing rundll.exe files, and it would also explain the trojan warning you mentioned two posts up (that site comes up clean for me).

I see, thanks Postmaster.
I'll leave it be for the time, I am surfing ok, albeit somewhat fractured.
My new desktop should be ready within the next 7 days, hopefully.

I'll probably use my current old desktop, for the xpress use of the book scanner, and load Ubuntu as my operating system, in preference to reloading Win 7.

PS: I had run both Glarysoft, and Malwarebytes, which fail to pick up anything.
It may be a rootkit attack (beyond my experience to address)

Rod,

Are you thinking of running Ubuntu as your primary OS on your new computer? If so, keep in mind that a lot of software you're used to running (including StampFix) won't run on it.

Appreciate you concern, Postmaster.
No Sir, Windows 10 Pro. has been purchased.

I just need a free OS to run the book scanner.

My current W7 is apparently illegal, (according to Malwarebytes) I had no idea, I purchased it loaded as genuine some years back.

Yeah, there's one scanner site out there that periodically flags my website, but wants me to pay a fair amount for them to tell me what they've "found". Malwarebytes flags because that site flags, even though that server is running Malwarebytes...

Guess:
Genuine
I do not recognise the Postmark / cancellation

1866 Liannos City Post of Constantinople
"Service Mixte" indicates Liannos-Egyptian Post Office.
I have never seen a genuine cancelled example

The question remains, if genuine, why were the details on the label not filled in?
The last 3 lines inducated what was due to the Egyptian PO.

I do not have the ability or the knowledge to answer either question.
The label looks similar to my examples,
1 Piastre red on white.
Unknown marking applied.
That is the truth, as I see it.

I have not read any study on these labels, other than cursory details.

For expert / Specialist bibliography
you will need E.F Hurt The Turkish Post with Egypt. 1941

Yes, the cancellation is something similar. There is little information about this postal service?

No.
To be more accurate, there is little information WIDELY KNOWN about this service.
There are specialists in every nook and cranny, in Philately,
one has to seek out that information, and often pay considerable sums of money to pay for written information from that specialist's discipline in preparing and researching that information.

If that is what you seek, then that is your job now...

OR....

You search the Internet for a Turkish specialist, that offers a certification service, pay $30 - $100 for a certification of genuineness, which you then (hopefully) post back here for the sharing of knowledge, which we all benefit from.
