Starting a dive into a box of stamps found at an estate sale close out for $20 this weekend. WW and US, mint and used, in envelopes and glassines plus some other odds and ends. Box already paid for itself with the first envelope I went for as Italy had a few stamps I needed that were in the $10-30 catalog range. Also a nice stack of about 75 San Marino mint stamps in original glassines, nothing expensive, short sets, but goes nicely with my Italy collection. A British colony envelope added 7 new countries to my stamp for every country album, up to 331 there. Less than a quarter of the way thru the box and a ton of sorting to go, this may last me thru Christmas. I may post a couple of interesting items in the next few days if I get some time over the holiday week. |

My birthday was 2 days ago and my wife got me a stamp stockbook, and a bunch of stamps. A lot were some of my missing Lebanon stamps, as well as some of the German empire currency devaluation stamps. I had an amazing birthday. |

Bombed out on another auction. I can't keep up with my expensive taste. Maybe I need to turn around and start selling. |

At the beginning of the week, I finally managed to get started getting my stamps onto pages. Just the rabbits, though, as the pack of pages I bought wasn't sufficient for much else.
I did manage to get the rest of my collection sorted by topic, and the ones I was disinterested in set aside to find a new home for. I have so many animal stamps my dudes.
There were some small auctions I won last week and earlier this week that have started arriving, so I've gotten quite a few singles and souvenir sheets over the past few days. One of the sellers had me concerned for a minute, because he had sent some Thai stamps (rabbits, of course) tucked into the cover belonging to a crayfish set from Australia.
Non-rabbit-related, I managed to add a few stamps to my tea collection, and some to my traditional costume and uniform collection as well. |

It's been over 2 months since I did anything, but today I finished mounting my classic Paraguay. Colombia and Ecuador are all that remain in order to finish my initial goal of remounting my 1840-1940 stamps (save China, France, and U.S.A.) on Steiner pages. China and France are already done on specialty pages and U.S.A. is a whole different project yet to come. |

Over the last 2 days I mounted classic Colombia and Ecuador. Was 93 pages and 628 stamps between them. The only glitch is I ran out of 31mm mounts (so have about 20 stamps to mount when I am able to place another order, which might be a while since I need a big purchase to avoid shipping fees).
I now consider myself done with my initial task of remounting the world to 1940+ on Steiner pages. The + is for British commonwealth to 1952 or so and French colonies to 1946 or so.
It's such a great feeling and now it's time to enjoy for a bit and think about the next task. |

Today, I've prepared three blind lots for philatelist friends. I made sure to respect their preferences as much as possible. I then prepared their envelopes with 3 of the latest Canadian commemorative stamps.
I've also updated my US albums. I'll have to look into ordering the 2022 supplement soon: this time, I'll have to make sure to buy the supplement including the mounts as I've amassed all 2022 US stamps in mint condition throughout the year! I also have stock books for nicely cancelled stamps. |

Wife's away for a few days so spending the weekend catching up on the million little unfinished projects around my collection. Was sorting a couple dozen Russian/CCCP glassines into a stockbook and realized I have some Tannu Touva stamps and never put one into the 'one stamp from every country' book. For some reason the Smithsonian One Stamp album stuck Tannu on the Romania page, probably why I missed it. Now up to 336 of the 683 countries printed (49.19%). I still haven't decided to print the last 14 pages which includes stamp issuing entities as the entries listed seem a bit random. |

Had a few glassines for China that I hadn't checked to see if already mounted. And to my surprise, I had 30 stamps to add to my Specialty pages. Pretty happy about that. Of course, no idea if any are fakes. 22 from Republic of China, including Scott 1024 which has a 2012 CV of $24.50. 1 from Formosa, Scott C1 with CV of $9.50. 7 from Men Chiang. A few pics: |

Spent some time going back through my Germany binders to see where I am with mounting. Looks like I will eventually have a decent parallel collection (one set of pages for unused stamps and one set for used). I have Scott Specialty pages GER1 (and GER2) and my plan is to use those for my used collection and use Steiner pages for my unused (virtually all MH unfortunately). Anything after 1949 (both FRG and DDR) will be Steiner for both sets of pages. It turns out I already had both sets of pages done for Federal Republic Semi-Postal from 1949 through 1959.
And I decided on my next mission: Remounting Korea (South) from 1946 probably through the mid 1970s since the CVs are decent. |
