"RS-PO" anyone?

Rod,

Many early post offices were located at the Railway Station and this notation simply recognises that it was the case.

Cheers John,
I had been well aware of Station Post Offices,
I think the Acronym threw me, I am rather miffed I did not work that out. I did give it some thought.

After all, I collect the rascals !
I have only known them as RPO

I am enlightened!

Australia Post...A failure ! (Rare occurence)

Sent SCF member "Sylvain" stamps to Thailand

(Thankfully I am a bit of a perfectionist and scan my mail before sending....correctly addressed to Thailand)

Hi Rod,
I just checked the status of the envelope you sent me and it says it was delivered on the 12th of November, in the USA!!!
That is weird, isn't?
You clearly wrote on the envelope Thailand.
Very strange...

Rod

I need a little help with this cancel.

Looks like "GRAFTO" Western Australia. Google is no help.

Possibly "GRAFTON" but it is a town in New South Wales.

Can you straighten me out, here.

Thanks in advance,

Linus

Tragic story out there, Rod. Never heard it before.

Two more discoveries in my big box of old Australia:

First one, is it Temporary Post Office 4 or Train Post Office 4?

Second one, Melbourne?

Thanks in advance,

Linus

Hi Linus,
TPO has been discussed here before, I'll do a reconnoitre.

Yes 2nd is a Melbourne Duplex VICTORIA killer (double struck)

April 2nd 1895
Not sure what the "14 O" is above the date slugs

Linus,
TPO = Travelling Post Office.

I cannot assist with yours, Fairdinkum stamps, or Bobby de La Rue
will hopefully chip in.

My Victoria Catalogues do not address these.
I have a TPO 4 Uptrain to Queensland from Prestige
These are NOT my stamps, just reference material.

Yours appears to be a barred 2-3-3-2 which looks unusual.

That site is now maintained by Les Molnar, the co-author of the book on TPOs. He's a great fellow to deal with. He is 'Trilliumstamps' on eBay and sells copies of his book.
