Torin: I'd say it's a bit of a toss-up between the first set (beginning in 1992) and the current one that began in 2020. I hope they continue doing these annually in perpetuity. :)
This discussion peaked my curiosity with regard to the 2020 USPS stamps subjects compared to the demographics of the country.
For 2020 issues, I found Hispanics to be quite under-represented. Hispanics make up 18.29% of the population but there were no 2020 USPS stamps issued with Hispanic topics.
There were a total of 115 stamps (given catalog numbers) issued in 2020 by the USPS, here is the break down by demographic stamp subject; Asian - 11 stamps - 9.57% African American - 10 stamps - 8.70% White - 2 stamps - 1.74% Hispanic - 0 stamps - 0.00%
Here are the 2020 US population demographics White - 60.06% Hispanic - 18.29% African American - 12.50% Asian - 5.49%
