I have been collecting US used PNC singles using the Nazar Basic PNC Catalog Numbering system (on pages that I have made). I recently joined PNC3 and see that they have their own PNC catalog numbering system.

So I was wondering what numbering system is the "standard"? Or is there no real standard?

And what album pages do collectors use? I know that PNC3 has pages -- 130+ individual Excel files. Scott sells a "Simplified PNC" album. And a Google search will turn up a number of DIY albums.

Any input is appreciated.

The PNC3 pages have more varieties. If you think about it, PNC's have only been around for 30+ years, and a complete collection is still feasible.
As far as the catalog numbers are concerned. I use Scott normally, but my self-made album uses PNC ID's first and Scott second. Reason for that is the PNC ID system is more thorough and has far more varieties.

Very few use either the Nazar numbering system or the PNC3 numbering system. Most use Scott and if you try to quote numbers for eaither of the other systems most people will give you a blank stare.

Hmmm...sounds like I at least ought to get the "2015 Cummulative PNC-ID Index, Cross Reference PNC ID and Scott Numbers Index, and Alphabetical Name Index" from PNC3.

Any opinions on the other items on the "PNC3 PNC Catalog Chapters Order Form (April 2015)"? One of the reasons that I joined PNC3 was to get the loose-leaf catalogs. So I am a bit disappointed that the majority of the loose-leaf sections (e.g., Transportation coils) are out-of-print. It is also somewhat worrisome that the order form is almost two years old.

dkabq8, you have not checked either your Email or the PNC3 website lately. The order form is brand new and is on the cover of the latest "Coil Line" issue. You can order the 2017 index etc from the club right this moment.

@Petert4522

On the PNC3 website (after logging in), under PNC3 Items for Sale/PNC3 Loose Leaf Catalog Publications, there is a PDF that appears. Its title is "PNC3 PNC Catalog Chapters Order Form (April 2015)". I do see that the order form on the back cover of the latest "Coil Line" issue is March 2017. I will use it, rather than the one on the website for my order.

Thanks.

dkabq8, glad to help. Yes, you have to log in to get the latest Coil Line and for a good reason I think. If we made it open for everyone we'd be out of business in no time! I apologize that some of the info on the website is behind - we have a shortage of volunteers. But the latest Coil Line issue is always as up to date as we can be.

I completely understand having to be a member in order to purchase PNC3 materials and to get the Coil Line.

@Petert4522

Would you know if the PNC singles album pages on PNC3 are available as a single download, rather than having to individually download the 130+ pages?

No, I do not know. But you could give the webmaster a ring - he or the content mistress would know.

There is a new button on the PNC3 web site that will let you download all of the album pages from a ZIP file.
