I believe they are all precancels except the first, 3rd (pair) and last stamps in the last row of the second picture. The first and 3rd are , I believe parcel post cancels and the last is what appears to be an oval "killer" cancel.

Some of these are not in great condition, Should I hang on to them or find a project and use them?

If you collect stamps, keep them, if you invest in stamps loose them to someone that does collect them. I will take them off your hands if you are going to throw them away.

Check eBay, you may be surprised.
I collect (as many do) US precancels, and they command surprising prices sometimes.

You could put them up for auction / sale here.

I'm a stamp collector and would never use the undamaged stamps for some other purpose. I'm just not sure what to do with damaged, torn stamps, do people collect common damaged stamps?

On first blush it looks like common material in not so great condition. If they were mine, I would toss the damaged stamps, keep the ones (in good condition) that that fill holes in my collection, and pass the rest on to another collector or donate them. YMMV.

I would put them into the collection good or damaged (if the damaged item fills a void in the collection). You can always replace it later when you run across another issue with the same pattern.

I collect stamps on which I can identify the place of cancel. Since precancels can/could have been made to order for collecting rather than real postal purposes, I puzzled over including them in my collection. Being almost unable to turn away anyplace I didn't already have, I finally decided to include precncels in my collectin as space-fillers until I could get the place with a real postal cancel that was identifiable and readable.
