For the historian in all of us.....I am sure some member on here has a First Edition of the first Scott's album from 187x?, but I'll try to post a couple of representative photos tomorrow from the 1897 Scott International and 1893 MeKeel albums I just purchased. I guess they would have put you in the major leagues if you were a young collector in the last decade of the 19th century. Back then, given some disposable income in the family, you had a real shot at collecting 90% of all the stamps that had been issued! John

She is no beauty cover-wise, but this the 1893 Mekeel's Worldwide album. What album today would devote such space to postal stationery of the Columbian states and Hanover?

The 1897 International Album...I thought this was the Scott version, actually it is another Mekeel. Anyone have that first GB postal envelope?

Referred to as the "Mulready"

Note: These Mulreadys were copied for US covers, keep an eye out for them.

Here is the first die, in boxwood.

Here is the cover on the opposite page...

I have my grandfather's WW album, dated 1912. Does anyone collect old albums? Might the APS be interested?

Good question, I hope to get to the APS research library one of these weekends. They might be in the collections. What album is it? It seems like Scott and Mekeel were the predominant US makers, SG for the UK? I get the sense that there were more small fry though in the late 1800s, early 1900s.

I was asked to post a photo of my father and grandfather's Regent albums, I don't know if I really consider it as antique as some of the others posted but it certainly isn't a modern album either.. These albums were from about 1956-1958. These picture are from what they look like now, I will post a few pictures maybe of the condition they were in when I originally inherited them from my father. I have video somewhere of the first album A-C before I started transferring stamps to a scott int. set which I'll post here as soon as I locate the video file!

Good Lord. That is beautiful, Wentzr. There's something about hinge mounted stamps that really appeals to me.

wentzr - The Regent album was the one that my parents gave me when I was young. Those album pages, full of stamps, was the childhood quest, (never substantially realized then), that drives my desire today for WW 1840-1940.
