who wouldn't like one of those in their front room? It might require a bit of negotiation with the management though

Not getting excited about this, just a FYI.
Unlisted in Scott or Stanley Gibbons.

Bandied around eBay as "Error Missing Rose Colour" asking $78

Sc#748 1975 Multuhulls.
Both these are mint, hinged.
The Rose on the original is barely recognisable anyway.
Maybe light damage.

Flashback to my childhood.

The Observer's Book of Postage Stamps.

Stamps were not on my radar then. I had "The observer's book of birds eggs"
and had a collection of 40, my prize egg was the Curlew.
I also collected Newts.

Hi Rod,

Nice to see your Observer's Book, especially as my first stamp book was the first edition (1967):

The original price was 6/- (six shillings).

I still arrange my collection following the list of countries at the back of the book, essential a path that snakes around the world starting in the UK and ending in Mauretania.

I've made a few minor changes but this list was an excellent starting point and it has worked well for me over the years.

That is surprising, I think I had the observers book of Automobiles back in the 50's

Hi Rod,

I don't think there's any contradiction. New volumes were added to the series over a long period of time.

I see the first edition of the Automobiles book was in 1955:

If I remember correctly, your second edition of Postage Stamps brought the book more up to date but it included fewer of the author's comments on the design approach of different countries and individual designers.
