I found a stamp book today at the flea market for $15. I figured my odds were better than the lottery at that price.
Most of them are not amazing, and it looks like someone may have taken out some of the stamps(the more valuable ones?) but I'm hoping one or two are worth what I paid for the entire lot.... If not, it's $15. I've emailed an appraiser specializing in stamps in the area, but if he charges a fee to do so, I'd like to know if it's even worth it before hand.
If any of the stamps are unclear, I can take more pictures.
Welcome. For $15 you got a good buy but from the images shown, it is not worth a lot more money. There are a few rare varieties of some of the stamps shown but chances of having one are very, very low. If you have not considered it; stamp collecting might be an enjoyable hobby for you, this album would be a good place to start. Don
Pheonia, I do not know about the appraiser but it seems to me that he has to eat also! Why not look up on http://stamps.org if there is a stampclub close to you. If there is those folks will be more than happy to help you without charging anything.
Thank you. I'm just going to inventory them the using the book and this site. (thank god they're in a book. makes it easy to figure out which one they probably are.)
The $15 price was probably OK. I agree that these are not really worth any more than that. While the "catalog value" of the individual stamps would add up to a larger number, most inexpensive stamps like these can be had for a nickel or so (much less purchased in quantity).
