So checking out eBay as I do, and I saw this...

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/U-S-A-Ra...AOSwQ59ZaCTp

I thought it was nice and warranted a closer inspection...

I didn't know the engraver had put a secret message, and I couldn't find it listed in Scott....

Feel free to bid!

When I saw the first picture I already started thinking "aren't these marked some way, like the phony State Dept. official high values?" And there we have it in your second scan.

No bid from me, I'll wait for the complete set, thanks. It'll need a "make offer" button, too.

I wonder how many of these "no watermark type" newspaper stamps actually have a watermark. Probably all of them. And the #68 with the creases being called a "rare $9750 catalog stamp". Of course his prices are a dead giveaway, asking 5% of that $9750 should set off major alarm bells anyway.

This is a newspaper stamps facsimile made in Europe. Made in the 1880 era, it was never meant to fool, but to fill album spaces since the public could not actually buy newspaper stamps from the post office. it is worth a dollar or two.
