The USPS allows three companies to market user created postage stamps. What has been your experience with creating, using, and collecting these stamps? Please post an example with comments on the purpose for its creation.

Well, three days with no replies. I doubt that these are considered collectible as such. I created some for use with the first day of issue of the 2015 Coast Guard stamp. Of no philatelic value by themselves, my rationale was that they might FDC collectors might view them as contributing to the "cachet" of the covers I affixed them to. I've not tried to sell any of them, so I have no idea whether it would add to the interest of these FDC's or not. Example below: |

hoosierboy, you could try the 'search' function here. There have been several other posts on personal stamps on this forum, and folks do collect them.

I think I will need to do this with a picture of my daughters Chihuahua and send her a letter at college. She would freak out when she sees the stamp. |

My wife & I thought we'd give a real charge to family & friends by sending mail to them that had us on custom stamps. Only one noticed! Lesson: Non-stamp-nuts are unlikely to look at the stamps on the mail they receive. |

Yeah, that would probably generated some concern. But would it have been because of the suggestion that "Dad" (or "Gramps") had been arrested, or would it have been concern for what happened to his right arm? |

BTW, in all fairness, it should have been noted that the jury found me not guilty of the charge of Aggravated Licking of a Self-Adhesive Postage Stamp. |
