Hello again,

here I show three stamps I have. I find them really interesting, as I find the following oddities:

- on two stamps there is a double precancel, but with different types. Additionally one is a postage due stamp, and on this there is the "older" precancel also with an error, a double line.
- at the end of MICH the dot is missing
- the is some additional ink after RAPID
- on one stamp, there is a small ink spot after TOP

So I have two general questions and, of course, I would be glad to get your opinions about my stamps in concrete.

- are small oddities like the ones I mentioned collectable, I suppose only if they are due to plate conditions? so are those three mentioned oddities well known? I think there is no book or catalog for "precancel plate misprints".
- what about these double precancels - how could it happen that 2 different types were printed on the same stamps? Isn't it really interesting that on the one stamp the precancels are in different directions? (and: are those known types or local precancels?)

thank you!

Stamperix, I am no expert on precancels at all, but I believe your examples are cancelled, not overprinted twice.
As far as the Round Top, TX precancel goes, the dot on the mat is not unusual. These overprints were usually made with rubber mats that were easily damaged. Some of these 'varieties' are very much constant, others are not.

S. sure, everything is collectable. There is a fundamental difference in the postage due double and the R.E.Lee. The PD was probably cancelled twice just to make sure. Apparently the roller was light so they put on the electro precancel later. The R.E.Lee had the darker precancel first, applied when the stamp was printed. Then when it was time for use, the POD regulations required the user to mark the month/year date on it. They used a vinyl precancel device to do this.
None of these are in a catalog OR have any special value.
Peter is right about the TX item.

Hello and thank you both. Chasa: So I guess none of those is a Bureau precancel, and so no oddity (missing dot, additional dot) represents any known issue?

Anyway for me still I think that a double precancel in different types and different directions seems to be nothing that happened often, at least I never saw anything like this in my album or in the internet before. So this one or both will get a good place in my album for sure :).

The R.E.Lee is a bureau print, its dots are normal
