Hungary Stamps : On Steiner Pages.

ANY CATALOGUE RECOMMENDATIONS ?

I spent all day yesterday on early Hungary, and got nowhere.
I feel Scott and Gibbons fail miserably

Looking for Info 1874 to 1916 (Inclusive)
Must be bi lingual

I have the "Monography of Hungarian Stamps: Part 1 general,
which is fantastic but fails to list issues in a sequenced catalogue order.

The Romanian I have used for years, great link!

Moose helped a bit, but still lacking.
I have made offers on some catalogues, I'll let you know if successful.

1 major hurdle overcome, I think the engraved can be identified by
the 4 triangles in the corners, have minute vertical lines.
I don't think Typo or Litho can reproduce that.

Gibbons offers "Engraved" in the first set then all the rest "recess"

We know the print process, but why complicate, a simple "Eng" would have sufficed.
Also I have issues with the burelage, I do not see dots but lines.
No mention of sideways wmks

I am determined to crack these, I have what looks like 300 or so Type A2 A3 and A4 but it looks like a lot of work.

I have decided to call these out as forgeries
My two Newspaper P1 and P2 stamps.

cheers, I was aware of the Brainard book back in 2017
Just a bit heavy ($30) for me at present.
But may become important when I address my Romanian.

Time is never a problem for me awaiting mail.

The second link, is where I purchased my other two catalogues
I did not take this one as it is not bilingual.

Kudos to the two vendors, I often come across eBay vendors who market catalogues, and only show the cover.
I immediately dismiss.

The seller also enabled you to make an offer, so - "make him an offer he can't resist".

I did that on the other two I bought
But a catalogue in Hungarian, I could not put to good use, I'm afaid.

I could not find the following Souvenir Sheet in Scott
so am assuming..

BUDAPEST '71 STAMP EXHIBITION

Almost without exception (such as GB), the UPU requires a country's name to be printed on the stamp, so without "Hungary," "Magyar Posta," or something similar, these aren't valid for post.

It's not just the name, these "stamps" have FV in korona, which wasn't valid in 1971, so it is indeed just a souvenir of the exhibition.
