Is there much interest in perfin's?

I've just started looking through my collection for perfin's. Here's an example of what I've found so far.

Yes, there is an interest in perfins on this forum. Best thing to do is use the "search" button on the top of this page and you get more posts than you can handle!

This is likely State of Michigan in use from 1963-1982. Randall's Catalog # M10.6. Common. Nice to have a strip of three though.

Chasa, thanks. I'm not to the magic number of posts to sell or buy yet. When the time comes I would rather work out some sort of trade possibly. Not too interested in selling anything.

Moyock - yes, it's the Catalog of United States Perfins ... 1908-1998 edited by John M Randall and loose leaf published by The Perfins Club, dated 1998, and roughly a thousand pages. A true labor of love.

I bought a mass of 1,000,000,000 plus stamps (one million) and as I soak them off I am finding many interesting perfins and setting them aside. Since the stamps date for the most part from the 1930s to the 1970s and from all over the US it covers quite a variety so far. I have soaked off about half of them.

To be honest, the first time I saw holes in a stamp I couldn't figure out why someone would punch holes. Interesting now when I think back on it! =)

I'll go through my books several times without seeing a perfin and then it'll jump out. They're sneaky little buggers.

FYI, an updated version of the U.S. Perfins Catalog is supposed to be issued in 2018.

Have attitudes to perins changed over time? When I started collecting as a kid (almost 50 years ago!) my mum told me that perfins were bad and devalued a stamp.

Now they are very much sought after, and otherwise 'junk' stamps become valuable if they carry an interesting perfin.

I set all mine aside for sale on eBay.
