Yup.. What's the accepted definition of a Cinderella?

I've always have issues when I'm trying to describe non-standard stamps.

There are so many concepts that I'm always in two (or more) minds when using one concept or the other (not to mention when I need to use a term in a language other than Spanish!)

So yeah... what is and what's the different between a Cinderella, a Fake, a Counterfeit, a Forgery, a fantasy, a bogus stamp, a label, etc. Fiscal, not issued, and other more obvious concepts are okay for me.

From my point of view, a Cinderella is the same as a fantasy or a bogus stamp. It's slightly different than a label in the sense that a label had a legal predefined purpose when it was printed. The former concepts not.

Thoughts?

See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinderella_stamp

Counterfeit and Forgery stamps are meant to deceive.

A Cinderella is all those items you mentioned and more. Look upon the term Cinderella as an umbrella and all stamps not listed in Simplified catalogues are under that Umbrella.

It is a general term for all those items.
Some view the term differently and that's OK too. As a member of the Cinderella Stamp Club, I seem to have adopted their idea....and that's OK too !

Look on eBay for Philatelic Exhibition Stamps and you will see that some Cinderella can compete with the most beautiful engraved stamps here one set from eBay, not quite a Fake, a Counterfeit, a Forgery, a fantasy or a bogus stamp

As Londonbus says, the term also varies from collector to collector and place to place. For example, I think that revenue stamps are more commonly lumped in with collections of Cinderellas in UK auctions, whilst they might be separated in the US.

Thank y'all for your responses!

@JPMG: Beautiful pieces indeed! I'd never call those stamps forgeries, bogus, or fantasy. Those pieces perfectly fit "my" concept of "labels"

@geoffHa: That's what I thought and hence my question. I know there are different opinions for these terms in Spanish and wondered if there was a more accepted approach in English.
