On May 15, 1990 the DDR issued a set of 4 stamps to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). The 50 pf value (Mi #3335) of this set, shown here, depicts a Molniya satellite over the globe.

From wikipedia, "The Molniya (Russian: lightning) series of satellites are communications and military satellites launched by the Soviet Union from 1965 - 2004. These satellites use highly eccentric elliptical orbits known as Molniya orbits, which have a long dwell time over high latitudes."

Romania issued several series of satellite stamps in 1965 which I loved collecting as a boy, some examples:

Aug 25, 1965 Early Bird or Intelstat 1(first communications satellite, launched April 6, 1965)
Dec 25, 1965 Proton 1 (cosmic particle detecting satellite launched July 16, 1965)
Dec 25, 1965, Molniya 1 (telecommunications satellite launched April 23, 1965)

This last one was the first to return images showing the whole earth from space
