I thought about posting this to the precancel area, but the overall appeal of this cover exceeds that narrow a focus.

This is an all over advertising covers from one of the legendary stamp companies of the Golden Age of collecting, the Tatham Stamp Company. While not in the best of shape, I love it.

Here's the cover:

Very nice cover - I love it. Too bad you did not post it together with the other Tatham info on this forum; it would be so helpful to have it all in one place,

Peter

Peter, Which post are you referring to? I checked for Tatham Stamp Company in the search mode and found a dozen small posts, but nothing which would indicate a compendium of information.

I'll be happy to add the cover to an existing thread as well to keep everything together.

Great cover. Brings back memories. I grew up in Springfield in the late 50's and early 60's and caught the stamp collecting bug on a Saturday trip downtown with my parents while going into the stamp shops. There were several shops to choose from and they were busy places. Times have changed.

Search this forum for "Tasco" and there will be threads about the items this company put out. They made booklets with actual US stamps to help the collector identify their stamps such as The Large banknotes and Washington/Franklins. Here is a booklet that contains 14 blocks of 4 facsimiles. I have other booklets I will post later.

This post reminded me of an approval envelope I found with my step-grandfather's stamp collection. Not nearly as attractive is the OP example, but still interesting I think.

It's great that you still have the contents with the cover. It really gives a glimpse into the past and how business was done at the time.

Thanks for sharing this Walkman2!
