Many years ago there was a program online, which after inserting a few letters from a precancel offered complete town names that matched those letters. I cannot find it any more.

The link would be welcome, thanks.

Here is one Specific to Ottoman OCIT (Ottoman Cancellations Identification Tool) http://network.icom.museum/fileadmi...6_papers.pdf

It's a nice tool that could be used as a basis to develop a similar Program.

Perhaps you are thinking of the Post Office Finder for identifying US post offices?

https://www.postalhistory.com/postoffices.asp

String search feature may provide some help. Not precancel specific.

Try https://stuff.mit.edu/cgi/geo

I get a 404 file not found for EdziuMM's link. I tried all permutations of correcting the link given on the 404 page, but nothing fixed the problem. Any ideas?
