"Cao Chong Weighs an Elephant" is the story of a very clever youngster who shows the officials how to weigh the huge elephant given to the ruler of the province. He had the elephant climb into a boat (right stamp) and then marked the water level. Replacing the elephant with rocks (left stamp) until the same level was reached, made it possible to calculate the elephant's weight. The hanging umbrella shows which of the dignitaries is the ruler.
