The smiling globe is being sunsmart and has just locked up the dangerous Chlorofluorocarbons that damage our ozone layer. (Has anyone figured out if the land contours of the globe are real or just for looks?) Hi Rod, That Brazilian dance is really fun! K. |

Kris, I think the land on the globe is fictional.
Apparently the convention was successful, the ozone layer is growing.

It's beginning to look obvious that parasols are more often represented on stamps than are rain umbrellas, but those for snow are kind of special. Many countries show scenes at the beach on their stamps promoting tourism. This Dutch stamp may be one of the first to do so, 1949. It belongs to the set 'Summer stamps'. (Question: can anyone figure out how the three poles belong to the canopy parts? K.) |

This cute rat reminded me that the Chinese New Year has just begun. Two more years and the rat will be there again. Does anyone have the bridegroom that goes with this pretty bride? |

Sukeroku is a figure in a traditional Japanese play. His most notable prop is a big umbrella. Japan, 1970. (Maybe one of you know more about him?) (Rod, nice to see that all the animals came to the wedding. K.) |
