Thai elephant rides at sunset are pictured on a souvenir sheet for Montserrat for the World Philatelic Exhibition in 2013. Thailand celebrated its first stamp 130 years ago.

A war elephant carrying soldiers/mahout and weapons and even a tiered umbrella, indicating that there is a person of rank aboard or maybe it's an elephant of rank. Foot soldiers with sabers accompany them. 1955

The umbrella above the royal throne of Nepal is large and not tiered. The stamp celebrated the coronation of Mahendra in 1956. Photo of Mahendra in 1959. The monarchy was abolished in 2008.

The Japanese World Heritage sheet of 2012 shows the ancient Gokusui-No-En festival at Motsuji, a temple in Hiraizumi. Scholars sit under red umbrellas along a winding stream and talk about poetry to visitors.

A souvenir sheet featuring paintings of 1812 issued by or for Guinea shows the young lady reading a letter painted by Goya (1746-1828). It has appeared earlier on pages 1 and 13. 2012 The portrait of Napoleon in all his finery was painted by the Italian artist Andrea Appiani (1754-1817).

The Goya painting of the Lady with the Parasol has appeared earlier on pages 13 and 29, but not this one in a set of four stamps issued by Niger in 2013.

The Lady with the Parasol by Goya was again shown on a stamp, this time next to a portrait of the artist, in a souvenir sheet featuring famous Spanish painters. 2012

Kavalier shoe polish will keep your shoes protected even when it rains. Maybe it works so well that the umbrella is no longer needed. And you can use your boots as a mirror! The Union company which used to make this product closed about 30 years ago.

A Chief sitting 'in state' shown on a stamp for Ghanese tourism. His retinue holds a large red umbrella and fans. 1986 Festivals and celebrations are colorful tourist attractions in Ghana.

The Hirschfeld Company had a chain of stores for ladies fashion in major cities in Germany. Many stores and most members of the family did not survive persecution by the Nazis.

Hi Alexey, That is a delightful new version of Renoir's painting (1992)! Minnie Mouse has a cute pink umbrella. The original is known as "The Skiff" or "Boating on the Seine" and was painted in 1875; The National Gallery London.
