Monet painted his wife several times - here she is sitting in a beautiful garden but doesn't look happy anyway. The lady in the background is admiring the asters. Stamp from a souvenir sheet showing a modern auction of paintings, 2015.

(Hi Rod, Glad you liked it! K.)

Togo issued several stamps featuring impressionist painters in 2016. Monet's "Ladies in the Orchard" has appeared on the thread earlier.

Nature has been making some perfect parasols since time immemorial. I can't resist adding a few of them now that the ones featured so far on the thread are beginning to run out. Ireland 2008

The Parasol Mushroom can be found even in the Caribbean! (I have included only a few mushroom stamps clearly labeled parasol - there are uncountable others with a parasol shape, but they belong over on the mushroom thread. I hope you don't mind.)

The Ivory Coast souvenir sheet shows two stamps featuring Monet paintings on the background of the "Cliff" painting shown earlier. This time the two ladies close to the edge are in good view. 2013 The larger stamp shows "Sunrise".

(This is my last Monet, maybe more will turn up in time. K.)

Renoir began this thread with his lovely painting "The Umbrellas". The painting can be seen in either the Lane Gallery in Dublin or at the Tate in London (it visits both cities alternately). The Qu'aiti State in Hadhramaut was a sultanate in the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula, in what is now Yemen. It was disestablished in 1967; the Renoir is one of their last stamps.

(Greetings to Rod! There are probably many more umbrellas out there, and I'll add them when they turn up, all for now! K.)

Turkish Cyprus honored 15 years of Social Security with a protective umbrella in 1992. (excuse my very poor scan)

The stamp featuring the Reichstagsgebäude the way it looked before the war dates from 1949, and is one of the last to be issued before the Bundesrepublik was founded. "Mary Poppins" must have been popular back then - at any rate she is again! Here is a poster I found on the web for her return (Rückkehr):

Kris, I believe the circus performer on unicycle with umbrella on my last posting is the symbol for, or is associated with a street fair or festival in western Germany (circa 1950-54). I have seen this image on Cinderellas/labels, but I forget the city.

Here is the November 3, 2005 "Prussian Castles and Gardens" stamp (Mi. #2499) of Germany. Two women with parasols appear in the lower left foreground.
