Two of the values in Norway's 1988-91 "Nature" series of 9 definitive stamps depict birds. The 2.90 kr. stamp (Facit #1024) shows a male western capercaillie, or wood grouse in calling position. It was issued on February 18, 1988.

The 3.20 kr. stamp (Facit #1079) depicts a mute swan (Cygnus olor). This stamp was issued on February 23, 1990. The cancel on this stamp is from the village of Vestby. From Wikipedia, "Archaeological research has confirmed that the area has been populated since about 2400 B.C. ...Many Norwegian emigrants went to America in the 1840's and later settled in the area of Westby, Wisconsin, a city which still has a mostly Norwegian American population."

On March 26, 1997 Estonia issued a souvenir sheet depicting threatened species at the Tallinn Zoo. Two of the stamps in this sheet show endangered raptors. They are Steller's sea eagle (Sc. #319a) and cinereous vulture (Sc. #319c).

Steller's sea eagle (Haliaeetus pelagicus) is native to the Kamchatka Peninsula in Far Eastern Russia. Cinereous vulture (Aegypius monachus) had an original range over much of Eurasia. It is also known as black vulture, monk vulture, or Eurasian black vulture.
