Up-to-date there are 58 pages in this topic relating to our feathered friends, from birds of paradise to the humble Wren that once adorned the reverse side of the British farthing. Here is a stamp depicting a working bird that was often used to carry messages during the first world war 1914 - 18, an apt bird to decorate this airmail stamp of Switzerland, first issued on the 5th of July 1930.  These stamps were printed in sheets of 25 with a total quantity issued of only 200,000 of this 2 franc stamp. |
