These were in the thrift store group I stumbled across recently. Any reason to keep these? Best I can tell, the embossed ovals were cut from postage paid envelopes. Can't really find any more info. Thanks for your insights!

yes, the ovals were cut from envelopes that had the postage printed/embossed on them, but the way they were cut out "cut to shape" is not how there are collected - the normal format is a "cut square". Everything you show is common. The stamps are ok to use, the cut oval ones are illegal to use on another envelope.

Thank you for this information, @eyeonwall! On mail or in recycling they go.

Not sure how the cut ovals would work for postage. Use a glue stick and give it a try.

What if the ovals were still on the stamps? I have many full envelopes with these oval type stamps attached. Any value in them?

Probably postage if you feel they are common like the ones you have but older could be a little more interesting. Mint or covers?

Yes, depending upon which envelope it really is. The site below will help identify them.

My father had a collection of cut out, embossed prepaid postage. Do they have any value once they have been cut out of the envelope?

Where do I get guidelines? Several are cut in an oval fashion, but not the edge of the embossing as are shown in this message previously.

Thanks,

Tom
