just picked up about 500 Precancels this Benjamin Franklin was among them. Scott 300 or 318? I think that it is an altered 300. Any thinking otherwise.

with the green line at the bottom, it would have to be a sheet stamp and not a coil, if I am thinking right.

thank you

Lee

The 1902-issue coils WERE made from sheet stock. Thus the line along the straight edge is NOT a damning feature of this Scott #.
It must be evaluated on features such as parallelness of the edges, total height, etc.
I am not aware of any genuine coils of this issue which were precanceled.
Thus I agree with previous posters, it is a trimmed 300.

I am looking for information on a similar, unused 1-cent Benjamin Franklin stamp, which is on an early Honolulu, Hawaii postcard I purchased in a collection. I know nothing about stamps, just postcards. I attempted to look up it's possible value which I assume is probably around a dollar or less, but just want to be sure. Thank you for any and all help! Jeannine
