Hello- my daughter and I are new to stamp collecting. We came across this stamp and measured it and examined the color. We are hoping it is a #596, but understand the odds are stacked against us. A #552 or #632?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, chasa. That's what I figured. Do you know if Franklin 596 stamps are precancelled with Kansas City. Mo only? Are different cities a clue that they are not 596?

Yes, they are without precancel or with precancel Kansas City. But to check if you have a 596 you have to look at perforation, then at the color (not bright yellow green as yours) and finally at the size in comparison to other 1c stamps you have.
