Hi Jerry,
Thank you!

I hope Gerben's hard work and effort will be re-published one day.

Are there any new developments in the quest to re-activate the site?

I just checked the lengthy archive URL above, and found the site functioning. The profiles are available from the pull down menus at the top, but still would be best to rehost it. I'd be glad to kick in if that is an option. It would be a relief to have it somewhere where its future is secure...

So sad to learn of his passing. Since I have not been active I missed this notice. My best to the family!

I helped Gerben early on with the Stamp Atlas and he gave me some acknowledgment.
His project was something I was aiming to achieve, I had collected information on nearly 100,000 stamp entities, most found in the USA, Russia, Germany, China & Mexico!

A Little review of Gerben's Site!
Posted 03/12/2016

6) http://www.stampworldhistory.com

This site by Gerben van Gelder currently under construction may be the best to date. Great maps, charts, information and explanations as it relates to each issuing identities including an ease of navigation of the site. I have contributed some information to this site. In theory this site is to be limited to issuing entities noted in the 4 largest international catalogues, Scott, Stanley Gibbons, Michel & Yvert & Tellier! This limit is a strong base but there is more and the site does explore some of them.

Rating on website 7.5. Please note that this rating is this low due to the fact it's not complete. It will very likely be the best site available when completed.

Now I'm all curious but;

We can't connect to the server at www.stampworldhistory.com.
Note .org gets more results.

I am looking for the Stamp issuing entities by Mr Gerben van Gelder who is the creator of stampworldhistory.com

Link to webarchive: copy paste the link below (everything between the quotes) or it wont work *** Edited by Staff - Please review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. ***

Unfortunately, Gerben passed away in 2017 and his masterpiece website is now archived at
The excel list he created of the stamp issuing entities however is lost somewhere in the depths of internet.

I have seen other much bigger lists like the *** Edited by Staff - Please review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. *** 51700 entity list etc. However for me, Greben's version seems the best treatment of entities and contains the optimum amount of detail, including the different forms of government and periods of issue.

In his own words "it is a comprehensive list of stamp issuing entities, past and present, within the scope of the four leading worldwide catalogs. As such, the list can be used to manage a worldwide collection. The catalogs used to create the list are:
Michel: Deutschland, Europa and ‹berseekatalog
Scott: Standard Postage Stamp Catalog
Stanley Gibbons: Stamps of the World
Yvert & Tellier: Catalogue de Timbres-Poste"

And the best part is, for any ASFE collector this list can very well be used as his/her sole Stamp Management Tool!!!

Being said all that, I have not so far had the opportunity to get a copy of this excel as I was a little late to be caught by the stamp bug and the website was wound up in 2017. I have been searching for this excel sheet for the past two months to no avail.
I will be very grateful, if anyone of you would share me the list I am looking for.

thanks
