Just started looking at watermarks, is a U, without the very bottom of you showing a single mark? No laughing!

For US stamps, you will have "single line" and "double line" watermarks. Each letter of a single line is just that, a single line used to form the letter. A double line has letters made using a more fancy style and each letter has more than a single line. See the link above.
