One can still purchase teapots made of Jena glass, but they do need careful handling. Is this one in the list? 1959 You put your tea leaves into the inset and then add the hot water (warm the can first!).

HI Rod, France is just across the river, so let me know if Tania Teapot would like some of those nice new ones. Kris

Kris,
It is now.
Thanks for the French offer, Klaus has covered that.

That Jena Teapot would be a nice item to adapt for inclusions, mint, cloves, ginger or cinnamon etc.

Josiah Wedgwood (1730-1795) used a reddish-brown clay to make the distinct dark ceramics known as black basalt. The traditional Wedgwood of today is a beautiful blue with intricate white decoration. 2009

Hi Rod, Indeed, the glass pot is very good for making herbal infusion teas. Does Tania have a collection of real pots? That must be like a museum and is surely an inspiration to do research into the craft of pot making as well as cultural traditions surrounding tea drinking. K.

Yes she does, I have not had the pleasure to view them.
She does specialise, and does not collect just anything and everything of Pots.

Kris,
Josiah Wedgewood, was linked to the first Australian stamps design...How about that !

The Stamps, commonly known as the "Sydney Views", the design of which was based on the Great Seal of New South Wales.
The Great Seal of New South Wales was commissiond to Wedgewood, when they sent a great dollop of Clay back
from New South Wales, and asked him to design a seal in Clay.

Wedgewoods design included Industry, with all her attributes, a bale of merchandise, a beehive, a pick axe, and a
shovel, receiving (Freeing) convicts, at Sydney Cove, and oxen ploughing on the hillside of Sydney Cove.

The Motto Wedgewood used was "Sic Fortis Etruria Crevit" (Thus, mighty Etruria grew) ( a quote from Virgil
(Georgic11, V533) suggesting the similarity between how Sydney may grow as Rome.

The cute thing that makes me smile, is the connection with Wedgewood, his Pottery factory itself, was located in Etruria, Staffordshire England.
That is just so cool.

What a man, a prominent abolishionist, and a big thumbs up.

This came out in Great Britain in 1972. The stamps were not pictorial, but the booklet cover (and I think some more images inside) featured teapots...

Another beautiful painting of flowers with what might be a teapot at the left. It looks glazed in blue and gold and I figured if there are two lemons there as well, it might indeed be a teapot. Painting, lilacs, by Konstantin Korovin (1861-1939), probably painted during the artist's time in Paris.

Hi Rod, Fascinating to find out more about Wedgwood! K

Grandmother's teapot looked very much like this one but didn't have the inset; I'm assuming those little loops are for picking up the inset once the tea has steeped. 1991 Taiwan

We were from the poor side of the tracks.
I don't recall our teapot, I do remember the old knitted tea cosy. that came with a peculiar odour, and was invariably worn as a funny hat by the kids when parents were away.
Then there was the bashed, dented and stained tea strainer that bridged the rim of the cup, and captured the large tea leaf shards.
It had EPNS on the floral holder, which I later learnt was Electro Plated Nickel Silver.

I recall arguments and objections on who made the best cuppa, and the curious mist that rose from the spout on cold mornings.

All standard accessories to a 1950's English breakfast table, along with the cheap chromed "Cruet" that triple holder for the chipped salt and pepper shaker, the Vinegar bottle, and the mustard bottle and spoon (If one were "posh")

The traditional copper tea kettle could stand at the side of the hottest part of the stove and keep tea warm for hours, but one shouldn't leave the leaves in it for too long. 2011

There was always one of these on the peat-burning stove in Ireland or up in the Highlands for whenever one came in from work. Or, in our case, when we stopped on our bicycle trip back in the early 60s. Delicious tea with milk and sugar.

The design of this teapot is quite remarkable, I'll leave it to the specialist to figure it out. 1998

An artist painted by another artist. Sharab keeps a pot of tea to his right (but I don't recognize how he keeps it warm). 1968

(The pot looks much like the ones of brown clay ware with a bamboo handle one can get today. By the way Rod, there are a few teapots on the thread of "Hot Brews", which might be interesting for a collector of pots.)

This is another fun teapot: the gentleman's third leg must be the spout but I'm not sure if his top-hat or perhaps his whole head? is removable for putting in the tea and water. A scan I found on the web shows how it might be. (I regret not having seen one of these while on Man, for they are worth a fortune now! Do you have one Tania?)

Hi Kris,
not sure if Tania reads the forum regularly.
Her partner is making a list from here, for the next stamp bourse.
