hi all, have found some US stamps amongst the huge lot I have and have some writing on the stamps. just wondering if this is normal

Yes, it is normal. Those are precancels ( with the exception of the third one ), stamps that can be used by mass mailers and do not have to be cancelled when mailed.

Google The Precancel Stamp Society. You can learn a bunch about precancels.

Bailey, it is a ( probably ) very common stamp. One of the places that can help you would be www.stampsmarter.com , a very good website to learn anything about US stamps
