I am not sure because I did not see it before, but the dates and allegory point toward 10. anniversary of Czechoslovak Republic established on Oct 28 1918. Jiri

I agree. The arms close to the lady's right hand, look very much like the Czechoslovakia ones.

What a beautiful poster stamp !
Wish we knew more on this one.
Has the scent of Alphonse Mucha about this design.

Mucha's poster, (Unable to interpret the iconography)
Looks a little like Princess Hyacynth.

bwdavis - Yours is a 1928 patriotic letter seal based on a 1919 unissued stamp design by the painter František Kupka.

Alfons Mucha did of course design some early Czech stamps, although this doesn't look like his work.

rod222 - Thank you. Kupka's design shown in http://goscf.com/t/63962 reappeared in the form of another letter seal in the original colours in 1938 with years 1918 - 1938, the inscription DVACÁTÉ VÝROČÍ ČSR = Twentieth Anniversary of the C/zecho/S/lovakian /R/epublic/, and the imprint dle Fr. Kupky z 1919 Rijaček 1938 Neubert Smíchov = after Fr/antišek/ Kupka 1919 /Jaroslav/ Rijaček 1938 /Václav/ Neubert /& Sons Printers/

Kupka's 5 K design in http://knihovna.filaso.cz/tribuna_f..._1922_21.pdf showing Czechoslovakian legionaries in Italian, French, and Russian uniforms reappeared in the form of a brown-and-blue patriotic letter seal in 1937 inscribed PAMÁTCE ČS. LEGIÍ = In memory of Czechoslovakian Legions, 1914 - 1920, bearing the imprint dle Fr. Kupky z 1919 1937.

Re your Alphonse Mucha poster iconography in my interpretation: Mother Czechia adorning her 10-year-old daughter Republic with a floral wreath.

Thank you Florian,
I'll take some time tomorrow morning to go through your links.
I like the Equus stamps, not so much the modern, I never took to Picasso either.

Alfons Mucha remains my most admired artist, (rejected by the Prague Acadamy of Art...sheesh)
I grew up with his work on the wall of my flat, when studying for my Land Agents Licence.
They still take my breath away, even now.
