The top 2 are in very good condition, newspaper stamps are always collectable. The cancellations of all 3 would be of great interest to collectors of postmarks, so you really have the best of both worlds.

Dave Elsmore's site is excellent for all Australian Revenues: http://www.ozrevenues.com/

The fact that Glen Stephens thinks he is an idiot make him even more likeable in my book.

Resurrecting this thread, because I've looked through Dave Elsnore's site (and what a great service he has done and shared, BTW), and the Newspaper stamps are not listed in Scott or in Yvert. I've looked in a 19th Century Scott Brown and there are no spaces.

I found a 3d Watermarked stamp, but it does not have the Wmk 68 or 69 Crown and Q as listed on the Image from the O.P. Can't make it out entirely, but if I had other information to go by, I probably could.

The stamp has the same cancel as the two Unwatermarked stamps from the O.P., and the number is "97".

Any help that anyone can offer here in how to identify would be helpful-- is the stamp known with other watermarks?

Thanks, Ray

Ray.mac,
Are you able to post an image of the front and back of your stamp?

I had to remove a hinge, and now that I look at it, I can't tell if there is a WMK or not. What I was seeing before was the ink from the locomotive on the back of the stamp. So, sorry if I've raised some curiosity that maybe wasn't warranted.

Fairdinkum, I've seen your site before, and thanks much for asking for the images:

Bobby, I did check out the #97, for Tambo, Queensland, and it's a very rural place. But the examples of the cancels shown were not the same (sun ray cancel), so I don't know if 97 still represents Tambo or not.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Appreciate the responses from all, Ray

Hi Ray,

Scroll down to the bottom of the Tambo page and you'll see the railway cancel for 97 Meringandan.

Not common if the 4R rating is any indication!

I query the 97
May it be a possible 3 figure number?
97 does not appear central

Hmm must be 97, numbers only go to around 800
