Free life membership was dropped as an option for anyone who joined before January 1, 1974. The membership approved the change in 1973.

I can't tell you why the LM number is different than the original member number, I'm hesitant to push for a change while there are still transitions over to free life membership.

I had a great experience resolving issues I had renewing my APS membership online. Like others in this thread I got caught in an internet navigation loop when I tried to renew. I e-mailed Scott English using the link on the APS website explaining my problem. This was near 11 PM and I expected an answer the next day. I got a reply from Scott about six minutes later. Needless to say, I was impressed. I've read a number of complaints about APS, but this experience made me a fan for sure.

Try using Internet Expl. because google chrome is not re-directing the page.
