Hi there

I stumble on strange precancels from time to time and this one from ME. Is it a fake? The town is not in the precancel database, there is a North Jay in Maine but not whit this type. Anyone have an answer?

I believe this is not a precancel but rather a box cancel.

A pretty good rule of thumb is that if it is not listed in the T&T listings, it is not a precancel.

There's no reason for precancels any longer, so the possibility of an unknown or new precancel being discovered is on par with winning the lottery.
