Hi all
I'm a newbie to this Precancel stuff.
Can anyone help me with a problem regarding diff. between lines and Bars? I have a pc from Birmingham, ALA. which seems to have bars, but I can only find it with lines in PSS chart descriptions.
Can anyone help, Thanks in advance
Lars

Oooops…

Of course, it should have been ALABAMA. But the problem still applies, here are the vitals of the stamp: 2 mm block caps between 1 mm bars 10˝ mm apart.

You have a common Type-71 precancel applied by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, a "Bureau" precancel. Your stamp is from the edge of the pane showing the ends of the lines, giving a false impression that it might be a "bars" style. Here is a similar example in a pair of type-61's with wider bar spacing.
