One thing to check is the perforations. That webpage states that genuine stamps are perf 12, while forgeries tend to be 11.5. Mine is indeed perf 12.

Rod, I agree they are very close. But I do see some differences, especially around the figures in the boat and the boat itself. If you look at the rearmost figure you can see that, in the known genuine and mine, the left arm is clearly defined and holding the handle for the rudder, which is clearly attached to the rudder itself. On Floortraders, the arm and handle have basically disappeared. I guess it could just be a case of over inking, but I'm not sure. None of the "genuine" ones I'm seeing across the net have an over inking appearance.

perf12 - I can't seem to access anything from your link. It apparently does not like my IP. However, while trying I ran across a facebook group for people who collect this stamp specifically, including some who have reconstructed plates. I have made a request to join and will post my stamp there to see what opinions I get, and relay any good information back here.

Well, I'd say that's pretty conclusive evidence right there. Thank you for taking the time to post it. It now gives me total confidence to buy it.

Great thread, marvelous work P12, as usual.

That was my guess.
For a forger to get that close to an original beggers belief.

I do not have this stamp, but I feel I know it already

What would be nice now, is to have some scans of examples of forgeries up close.
