Kolossi Castle is a former Crusader stronghold on the southwest edge of Kolossi village. The original castle was possibly built in 1210. The present castle was built in 1454 by the Hospitallers under the Commander of Kolossi.

Ancient Castles in Jordan

Qasr al-Azraq is a large fortress located on the outskirts of present-day Azraq in eastern Jordan. It protects the nearby oasis, the only water source in a vast desert region. The castle was built in the 4th century and rebuilt in 1237.
Aqaba Fortress is located on the coast of Gulf of Aqaba, protecting the port of Aqaba, Jordan. It was originally built by Crusaders in the 12th century, destroyed in 1187, and rebuilt in the early 16th century.

Fortress Kostajnica is located on the bank of the river Una in central Croatia. It was built most probably in the 14th century with strong walls and two towers.

Castillo San Felipe de Barajas is a fortress in the city of Cartagena, Colombia. The castle is located on the Hill of San Lázaro, dominating approaches to the city by land or sea. It was built in 1636 and expanded in 1567.

Palamidi is nestled on the crest of a 216-meter high hill near the town of Nafplio in southern Greece. The fortress was built by the Venetians during their second occupation of the area (1686-1715). It commands an impressive view over the Argolic Gulf and the surrounding area.
