This is my first theme sugestion! How about show stamps of 'parachute'. They can be used for sports practise, also used in military actions and for spacecrafts landings. This was issued in 1985, honoring 45 years of militar parachuting in Brasil.

This small (40mm x 29.5mm) French label is from the small civil aerodrome at Saumur in the northwest of the country. It is a "coupon justifying the parachuting" and was probably required to be affixed to an official document. |

Croatia issue : 1994 Discoveries : 2v. Fausto Veranzio (c1551-1617) , was a croatian polymath, bishop and inventor. Few years before his death, he finished his masterwork, called Machinae Novae, that contained 49 large pictures depicting 56 different machines, devices and technical concepts. One of the illustrations in Machinae Novae is a sketch of a parachute dubbed Homo Volans ("The Flying Man"). Having examined Leonardo da Vinci's rough sketches of a parachute, Veranzio designed a parachute of his own. (font - Wikipedia). This stamp was issued with another one (pencil invenction) under the theme 'Discoveries'. |
