Yeah, but I like it anyway. I wish it had more context. Unfortunately, not even the cancel gives us a clue as to usage.

It's part of an oversized envelope or parcel front, franked with $13,792.65 in revenue stamps (assuming there weren't others elsewhere that got removed).

2 complete strips of 4 and a single of R246
1 strip of 3 of R249
3 complete strips of 4 of R250

Not something you run into every day.

Coming up on a quarter million in today's money.

There probably weren't any other stamps; who ever cut these would have taken any others, since any duplication was not even a thought.

Very interesting. My birthday, March 15!

Also an interesting side note. It appears that the cancel on the R249 is in red or purple and the others are cancelled in black. At least that's what I see in the scan.

Just to be clear my birthday isn't 1928 though.

At the time this was income tax day, it didn't move to April 15 until 1955. So there is a reasonable chance that this relates to that.
