Came across this item and thought it was interesting enough to share. I think it is likely an advertising stunt by the stamp dealer. Business card is a crude reproduction of a $5 Columbian. Stuck to it is a Private Die stamp. Reverse side of the card is blank. Unable to find any info on the Martin Stamp Co online.

I suspect that the stamp is just stuck down, and was not part of the original card. The Columbian design was all they needed; the back was probably blank except for the address and phone number. At one time there were a large number of stamp dealers on 42nd street. Even in the early 70's there were still several at 147 W 42nd.

There have been business cards with stamps on them; I have a card for E.B. Sterling with a 2 cent third issue India proof attached. It's in a boxed area in the corner.

Thanks. The stamp on the card is cockeyed. Probably the result of improper storage as you've suggested. The card must be pre 1960. No area code on the phone number.
